Here's what we did

An SF team activity

Aug 3, 2025

Janine Waldman & Paul Z Jackson

Introduction

Paul Z. Jackson and Janine Waldman introduced this enjoyable Solutions Focus activity to continue the collaboration at the SOLWorld Conference 2025 in Mechelen. Janine introduces the context of using it, while Paul explains how to use the activity. It’s just ten minutes, great for watching over a cup of coffee or listening as you walk.

The activity is as follows: • Jot down three skills or qualities you bring to work.
• Recall when you used one or more of these strengths / qualities and write them down.
• In teams of three, share your story without naming the skills / qualities.
• Your colleagues guess which strengths you used; often spotting even more than you imagined.
• Then reveal your original list and notice what’s been discovered.

Paul wraps up by connecting this playful exercise to Solution Focus principles and shares the “secret ingredient” that makes it work.

If you’re looking for a fresh, ready-to-use tool to highlight resources and strengths, this is 10 minutes well spent.
